Metro Diary 12: Choices of profession galore..

Of the professions that you can explore while traveling in a metro, tele-counselling is definitely one of the most tried ones. My co-commuter started as soon as she boarded, “Mom, who gets upset if people decline invitations?” (I was thinking, “umm I do”) She continued, “Everyone understands Mom! You need to calm down! You can of course tell Chachu that you can’t come. He will understand! Even if does not, think who is more important, your children or your brother in low?” (I think she said law but I heard low! Or was it ðŸ¤”) And it went on, “Always clearly think of priorities, Mom!”

This woman was really evolved, I tell you! I have no clear priority in my head. I want to do all at the same time! Do you think I should consult her?

By the time I could decide my ears caught another counsellor! This one specialised on marriage. “Who pays for the marriage function, bro? Aren’t you the groom’s family? Don’t sound strange now! Paying for wedding expenses is like “buying a bride”!! Are you buying a bride, bro? It never happens among us. Be very careful. Today they are asking you to share expenses, tomorrow she will say take care of my parents! Think what you are getting into.. aajkal ke yeh feminists!“ and his voice trailed off as I got down to walk home in the dark winter evening. I could hardly finish re-reading my book with so many interesting conversations all around..
