#MetroDiary 33: Bromance and caring in Metro

You can see a lot of bromance in Delhi metro! ๐Ÿ’œJust keep your eyes open. If you have been following the ladybug  around, you have already seen a photo wherein a guy wrapped his leg around another's to stop him from getting down, haven't you? However, yesterday, it was even better!  The scene played on the platform seats. This platform had the round ones that go around the pillars. Two boys in their early 20s were waiting for the train that only promised to come after 9 minutes! While my colleague and me, made a face and started some inane conversation, one of them used the lap of the other as a pillow to rest for the duration. It was either his good day or this was a really kind friend, the other one not only was welcoming the gesture, but rubbed his friend's head and stroked his hair. They were holding each other's hands and were chatting in a soft voice. It was a scene straight out of "Call me by your name". Or "Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara". Depends on where are you from! I was thinking if my colleague was from Europe or US, she would have thought a gay caressing session was unfolding in front of her eyes. And would have probably concluded that India is very progressive! While in India, people would not bother until one of them is a girl. Two men or two women can caress each other in public. Kissand hug and hold hands. They will not even care! However, it completely changes the moment they see a woman with a man. ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ‘ˆThat of course, is vulgar. Isn't it funny? Such is the effect of culture on our psyche!

As we are talking about whether and what one cares for,  we also see that how some of us care for colours and some others not! I changed from violet to magenta line (I was missing changing three trains ;) ) and realised although the person who printed the arrows and the foot marks on the ground perceived the difference between the two colours, the one who painted the side rails, could not be less bothered. Rails on both sides looked the same! the same thing happened with the stripe on rail coaches and the numbering at the boarding gates.  The latter was more concerned about the colour than the other.

Talking of the arrows, have you noticed how some people do not care for the direction of these arrows? You will always see some people standing on the red arrow pointing in the opposite direction, when they wait for the train. They stand as if nothing is a amiss. They do not care about the announcements asking them to let the passengers to alight first. May be they feel so light in their heads that further alighting does not make sense at all. Who knows! They sit on the floors when they are asked not to. It looks funny. There is a symbol depicting a man sitting on the floor and there is a red cross on it, to many that would be enough to understand that they are not supposed to sit on the floor, but to other the announcement in Hindi and English as well as this symbol is not enough. Or may be, just may be they find such beautiful people standing in front of them that they feel weak in the knees! You don't believe me? Oh! You are becoming as cynical as my friend D, who says, she has not seen a good looking man in years! When I claimed seeing a very good-looking one, she made a meh face! "Only seeing (with one's own eys) is believing!" She does not believe me! Such is my luck in friendship!

And oh yes! I know you have a thousand things to look at in your phone, from a Chinese series, to Saas-Bahu dramas, to animation films, to movies on Netflix, to the latest types of games or watch the series by the name of games, just remember, to look up and look through the window too. Or go straight towards the door and stand there. Delhi metro kept big glass widows in the compartment for a reason..
